Located just north of the city park, the museum contains reproductions of an 1880 homestead and an 1890 village as well as a 2/3 scale model of a church built in 1896, a 1914 schoolhouse and replicas of a fire station and a newspaper office. Narrated slide shows depict rice, soybean and fish farming.This unique museum, winner of many awards for leadership in the field of conservation, depicts the history of agriculture and the pioneers who farmed the Grand Prairie of eastern Arkansas from the 1800's until 1921. All of the artifacts in this city-owned museum were donated by descendants of the pioneers, many of them still farming their forefathers' land. Through these displays, you will learn how the prairie pioneer farmers lived, worked and played.
